Playing with Glass is based on a 40 000 acre cattle property at Blackall, central-western Queensland. The glassware is created in our old schoolroom and fired in my kiln in the shed, where our dogs mill around ready to ‘help’ as I put my designs together.
I enjoy a variety of handcrafts, mostly self taught. However, a few years ago I did a weekend glass slumping workshop in a neighbouring town. I loved it so much that my brand blossomed! Through a lot of ‘playing’, I have extended my skills and increased my range of products.
I find playing with glass very relaxing and love the opportunity to be creative. It's always exciting to open the kiln and see the end result or, in the case of dichroic glass, how much the colour has changed after being fired.
I’m a very tactile person, so I especially love creating textured designs, each one unique. I’m also happy to create a special piece for a customer whether it be your design or mine...I generally work on the idea that if I can draw it, then I can create it in glass.
While at this stage I do not have a website or online store, I do sell from my Facebook page.
PRODUCTS & SERVICES
Playing with Glass has a wide and diverse range of handmade glassware including coasters, platters, dishes, dip and sushi sets and candle-holders, as well as beautiful vases, Christmas decorations, nameplates and jewellery. Nameplates for a newborn or littlies are a unique gift as are stockbrands on platters. Dichroic glass is beautiful to work with but full of surprises! While the heat intensifies the colours, some change colour dramatically! My jewellery range includes pendants, studs and drop earrings, bangles, rings, and scarf pins.
I am always happy to make the special piece you are after. Whether it's a wedding or anniversary gift, for a special birthday or 'just because', be it a platter, dish or a personalised Christmas decoration for a little one, I'll do my best best to accommodate you.
